About BGW
Barcelona Gallery Weekend celebrates the opening of the season with a special programme in the most relevant art galleries of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The exhibitions, previously selected by BGW committee, are complemented with a complete agenda of guided visits, talks, encounters, performances, presentations and other activities around contemporary and modern art.
Barcelona Gallery Weekend, a project by Art Barcelona, seeks to showcase and reinforce the rich and varied artistic scene of Barcelona, promote art collecting and highlight the work of the galleries, as culture generating spaces open to all citizens, and the artists they represent. From September 19th to 22nd, 2024, we celebrate our 10th anniversary. Save the date to discover Barcelona's art scene!
· Spring parallel programme: THE COLLECTOR IS PRESENT (May 9-11th, 2024)
BGW2024 will also feature the second edition of The Collector is Present, a programme based on the collaboration between gallerists and collectors that materializes in a special agenda of exhibitions, meetings, dialogues, presentations and other activities related to the acquisition of art. The joint proposals by gallerists and collectors highlight the relationship between them and the artists, show different ways of relating to art and some motivations that lead to acquiring it.
· BGW's Public Programme includes guided tours to the participating galleries (ARCO GalleryWalks), specific visits for families with children (BGW Familiar), and suggested tours to visit the galleries autonomously, using text-guides by seven local curators (A walk by...).
· The Professional Programme is aimed at collectors, curators, art critics and representatives of local and international art institutions. We design personalized tours, professional meetings, social events and exclusive activities to get to know Barcelona's artistic offer and build synergies between our guests.
· The Acquisitions Programme addresses foundations and private companies that commit to incorporate into their collections artworks from among those exhibited in the participating galleries during BGW.
