About Gallery

etHALL has a stable programme since 2011 in which includes the works by both consolidated artists and others at the beginning of their careers. The work that it develops is distinguished by maintaining a close collaboration with the artists, making possible the elaboration and presentation of their most committed proposals. The new gallery space in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat emphasizes the experimental nature of the exhibition projects.

Francesc Ruiz presents a new body of work that delves into the imaginary of contemporary distribution and logistics and that manifests itself in the materiality of large-format printing, corporate signage, video and detourned comics.

"Diversion” 2022, is a new installation where he reconstructs in the gallery space the entire information conglomerate used to manage and maintain the flow of users of the public transport network during an exceptional cut due to improvement works.

Asoul”, 2021, is a video where, from a set of found footage, it evokes different forms of movement and circulation of human and non-human beings, interspersed with images that show us an overflowing nature on the verge of collapse. Finally, "Tired" 2022, is a set of drawings where comics and ubiquity intersect from the claim of the mascot of a well-known tire brand.

Francesc Ruiz

Francesc Ruiz (Barcelona, 1971) Departs from comics as an aesthetic, narrative and intellectual substratum and also as historical and operative material, applied as a continent or description of reality. Through creation, alteration, restitution or coupling, among other ways, he generates possible stories that reveal the gears through which individual and social identities, sexual identity or also the identity of the city are built.

His installations have been shown in different national and international art centers and museums: CA2M (Madrid), IVAM (Valencia), MACBA (Barcelona), Gasworks (London), FRAC PACA (Marseille), Weserburg Museum (Bremen) and in biennials such as Venice in 2015, Götteborg in 2017, Momentum Biennial, Moss, Norway in 2019 or Busan Biennial in 2020.
