House of Chappaz

House of Chappaz was born in July 2021 from the evolution and transformation that the Espai Tactel gallery has undergone both at work and personal level since its foundation in 2011 by Ismaël Chappaz. In 2018, Oriol Armengou and Ferran Mitjans joined the project with the aim of continuing to grow, expand and create new alliances to continue disseminating its lines of action and its ideas in pursuit of the most current contemporary art.

Following the lines marked out by the previous project, and which focus on themes such as the future, gender theories, queer, contemporary aesthetics, comics, anime, videogames and many others, House Of Chappaz is a project which evolves over time through risk and the commitment to very promising young talent.

The practice of Carles Congost (Olot, Girona, 1970) is characterized by the rework of stereotypes belonging to contemporary visual culture to question the mechanisms and processes of creation, as well as the artistic field itself, through video, photography, drawing and pop songs.

This new installation by Congost is an extension of the sculptural work SMALLTOWN BOY that was recently on view at Esbaluard in an exhibition of the artist with Jeremy Deller curated by Tolo Cañellas, and later in a Solo Project at the last edition of ARCO. The installation consists of new fortographies, a new audiovisual piece created and co-produced especially for this exhibition and also the harp sculpture as a central piece in the gallery.
