Pavel Korbička (Brno, Czech Republic, 1972) is a Czech artist whose practice explores space as a perceptual and physical phenomenon defined through light. Working primarily with neon, he creates minimalist installations that investigate the relationships between space, body, and movement, transforming architectural environments into immersive experiences. A central aspect of his work is the long-term project Dance Calligraphy, in which bodily movement — especially dance — is translated into luminous spatial drawings through the use of light, sensors, and digital technologies. Korbička understands movement as a space-time event, where subtle deviations and repetitions become visible through light. His installations invite the viewer’s active participation, generating shifting perceptual states and a heightened bodily awareness. Korbička’s work has been presented at institutions such as the Moravian Gallery, the House of the Arts Brno, the Brno City Museum, as well as in international venues in Berlin, Venice, and Italy. By combining phenomenological research with contemporary technology, he develops environments that question how space is perceived, experienced, and inhabited.
