Podcast GRAF x The Collector is Present
From May 14 to 17, the fourth edition of The Collector is Present arrives —a programme of exhibitions, meetings, and conversations resulting from the collaboration between collectors and gallerists of Barcelona Gallery Weekend.
Once again, GRAF and Barcelona Gallery Weekend have produced a new podcast to continue exploring the motivations behind engaging with art, acquiring a piece, or starting a collection, as well as the importance of collecting within the contemporary art ecosystem.
On this occasion, Laura Sangrà Herrero, journalist and presenter at betevé, was responsible for leading and moderating this conversation, which featured Cristina Llevat, deputy director of Pigment Gallery; Patricia de Muga, co-director of Prats Nogueras Blanchard; Pepe Ribas, collector and founder of Ajoblanco magazine; and Carlos Muñoz, collector.
«I think collectors have this impulse and this need to keep building their path, and it doesn't end when the walls are full -it goes beyond that».
—Patricia de Muga, co-director of Prats Nogueras Blanchard
«I've always strongly defended buying works by living artists, because I believe it's the best way to help them continue producing».
—Carlos Muñoz, collector
«In most cases, collectors and buyers are very interested in getting to know the artist because it adds something for them, and it's a way of connecting more deeply with the work».
—Cristina Llevat, deputy director of Pigment Gallery
«I like art, so I like mixing things together, but I like it to be boiling; the feeling, the sensation, the commitment, and above all holding onto the memories of the concentration that a work has provoked in me».
—Pepe Ribas, collector
